The day starts with palliyunarthal (awakening the Lord) at 04.00 Hrs. The sacred vision (Nirmalya Darshanam) of undecorated Lord is at 04.30. Hrs. The same is seen at the doors of Sastha, Ganapathi, Subramanian, Dakshinamoorthy and Chamundeswari. But the darsan of Sree Parvathi is with all decoration and illumination. First jalasuddhi, then sankhaabhisheka and malar nivedyam are offered to Siva. Then only decorations and illumination are offererd to Siva. By this time abhisheka and nivedyam are offered to all upadevas. After nivedyam sprinkling of nivedya is done on agnikonabalikkal and at the foot of the flag post. The temple will be closed at the time of both solar and lunar eclipses. Sivarathri in the month of Kumbha and Thiruvathira in the month of Dhanu are auspicious. Annadanam is given to all devotees on thiruvathira of every month.
